Meet the Brave Buddies

Every brave kid has a guide.

Brave Buddies are friendly little creatures who help kids through diagnoses, procedures, and treatment. They answer the questions kids are too nervous to ask, and make big medical ideas feel a little smaller.

How Brave Buddies help

Answer the big questions

Buddies ask and answer the questions kids are often too nervous to say out loud.

Make medical words make sense

Real terms like “cancer cell” or “port,” explained in ways kids can picture.

Keep kids company

A friendly face on every page, so no one feels alone in the story.

Where they live

Sunshine Children's Hospital

Brave Buddies live at Sunshine Children's Hospital, a make-believe hospital that looks and feels a lot like the real thing. When they're not helping, they tuck themselves away in the lab, the gift shop, or even the vending machine.

Named after real medical heroes

Every Brave Buddy is named after someone who helped change medicine. It's a small seed we hope to plant: a brave kid who loves their Buddy might go looking for the real person behind the name, and maybe someday follow in their footsteps.
